White After Labor Day - Part 1
It is a new era in fashion with numerous myths being put to rest and rules being thrown out, and this one being no exception: No White After Labor Day. We could start by going over some brief history as to why it started, but I think we should just dive in and see how to actually wear it this season! This might be scary for a lot of people specially since this myth goes linked to the one that says that us Plus Sized and Curvy ladies shouldn't wear white AT ALL. Well, I am totally dismissing that myth as well. It is all about playing with proportions and the clothes fitting right (if you don't have sewing skills, always take ill-fitting clothes to a tailor, remember that we all differ by centimeters or inches and sometimes we have to adjust mass-produced clothing). So, without further blabbering, here are some great ideas to carry White into Fall:

Es una nueva era en la moda con numerosos mitos puestos a descansar y reglas siendo expulsadas, y esta no es ecepcion: No vestir de blanco despues del Dia del Trabajo. Podriamos empezar con la historia del origen de esta regla, pero pienso que mejor entremos de lleno a como utilizarlo esta temporada! Esto puede ser un poco espantoso para muchas, sobre todo por que este mito usualmente iba atado al que las mujeres con curvas y plus no deberiamos vestir de blanco EN LO ABSOLUTO. Bueno, estoy descartando ese mito tambien. Todo esta en el jugar con proporciones que la rope entalle correctamente (si no tienes destrezas de costura, lleva la ropa que no te entalle bien a un sastre, por que recuerda que todas diferimos por centimetros o pulgadas y hay veces que hay que entallar la ropa producida en masas).
Asi que sin seguir parloteando, aqui hay unas ideas de como llevar el blanco al otono:
White Top Paired with Patterned Bottom Pieces
This pairing is the safest because we are using the white on the smallest part of the body. Additionally we are making the transition from one season to the other in a very smooth way by using pieces for the bottom part that are on trend for the Fall season; plaid, dark florals, chunky knits.

Este pareo es el mas seguro por que estamos usando el blanco en la parte mas pequena del cuerpo. Adicionalmente estamos haciendo la trancision de una temporada a la otra de una manera sutil al utilizar piezas para la parte de abajo que estan de tendencia para la temporada de otono; cuadros, florales oscuros, tejidos gruesos.
Another way to safely transition is by making the white piece of your outfit the outerwear item; blazer, cardigan, jacket, coat.

Otra manera de hacer una transicion segura es el hacer la pieza blanca el articulo de jacket o abrigo de tu outfit; chaqueta, abrigo, cardigan.
Patterned Top Paired with White Bottom Pieces
This might be considered the bold approach because white is being worn our the widest part, the bottom. Don't fret, as I said before it's all about the right fit of the clothing, so as long as you are wearing not only your true size but a piece that fits you right you have nothing to lose (if you want to throw in some shapewear as well, that never hurts). Also, as mentioned before, you are combining with on trend pieces for an easy transition; plaid, leopard print, jewel tones, complimentary black.

Este puede ser considerado un acercamiento atrevido por que el blanco esta siendo utlizado en la parte mas ancha, la de abajo. No te alarmes, como dije anteriormente todo queda en el entalle dela ropa, asi que despues que estes vistiendo no solo la talla correcta peroque entalle como se supone no tienes nada que perder (si quieres utilizar shapewear, no hace dano). Tambien, como mencione anteriormente, estas combinando con piezas que estan en tendencia para una trancision facil; cuadros, estampado de leopardo, tonos de joyas, negro complementario.
An even bolder move would be to wear a white dress. Crazy right? Well, no, as I said if paired with a good fit and shapewear, as well as with transition pieces, in this case an outerwear piece, a floral blazer. Now, the florals aren't dark but the deep shade of red flowers translate to jewel tones easily thus tying it all together appropriately for the season.

La movida más audaz sería el vestir un traje blanco. Descabellado, verdad? Pues no, como dije, si se combina con un buen entallado y shapewear, como también con piezas de transición - en este caso un blazer de estampado de floral. Ahora, el estampado floral no es oscuro pero el tono oscuro de rojo de las flores se interpreta fácilmente como tono de joya logrando atar todo el look de una manera apropiada para la temporada.
