Santurcia Hostel - Redefiniendo Espacio Compartido
La Hora Mágica o “The Golden Hour” es un momento que pasa dos veces al día que proyecta pura magia, y la vista de Santurce en esos momentos desde el bien llamado Santurcia Hostel es eso mismo, al igual que su céntrica localidad - mágica. De seguro es por esto que sus eventos en el rooftop son realizados en y comienzan con la palabra “Atardecer”. Pero eso no es lo único maravilloso del lugar. // "The Golden Hour" is a moment that happens twice a day that projects pure magic, and the view of Santurce at those moments from the aptly named Santurcia Hostel is precisely that, as is its central location - magical. For sure this is why the events on the rooftop are done in and start with the word "Sunset". But that's not the only wonderful thing about the place.

Está en justo en la Avenida José De Diego en Santurce, accesible fácilmente de varias direcciones, y métodos de transporte. A pasos del Museo de Arte de Puerto Rico, como los negocios de la avenida, Libros AC, Ciudadela y Lote 23. A unos minutos estás en la Calle Loíza o Condado. // It’s right on the José De Diego Avenue in Santurce, easily accessible from several directions, and transportation methods. Walking distance from the Museum of Art of Puerto Rico (MAPR), such as the local businesses of the avenue, Libros AC (local independent bookstore), Ciudadela (community with various stores and a supermarket) and Lote 23 (a foodtruck location with different flavors of Puerto Rico). Also, you are just a few minutes away from Calle Loiza or Condado (local commerce and restaurants, highly touristic area).
Sus áreas comunes, como la sala, te hacen sentir como en casa e invitan a tomar un momento para tí - ya sea para leer, disfrutar de música o simplemente descansar - o para compartir experiencias inolvidables con nuevas personas. // Their common areas, like the living room, make you feel at home and invite to take a moment for yourself - whether it's to read, enjoy some music or simply to rest - or to share unforgettable experiences with new people.
Como parte de las áreas comunes está el área estilo recibidor (el cual contiene un pequeño gift shop y también un beach kit que incluye sillas de playa hechas exclusivamente para Santurcia por Solea y bolsos por Tropi Co.), que también te llama a disfrutar de un espacio acogedor perfecto para adentrarte a cualquiera de los libros que tienen a tu disposición. // As part of the common areas there's a room á la receiving hall (which contains a small gift shop aa well as a beach kit that includes beach chairs made exclusively for Santurcia by Solea and bags by Tropi Co.), that also calls you to enjoy a cozy space perfect to dive in any of the books they have available for you.
Tienen las literas de la vida en los cuartos compartidos (entre los cuales hay uno exclusivo para mujeres), pero también tienen un cuarto privado para lxs que prefieran un poco más de privacidad. Algunos de los cuartos compartidos incluyen un baño pero también hay compartidos disponibles. Definitivamente cambiando el juego y redefiniendo el concepto de espacio compartido. En Puerto Rico los hostales usualmente son vistos como algo completamente nuevo para muchos y para otros es un tipo de lugar que evitan porque piensan que como es compartido no hay privacidad ni son lugares limpios/organizados, pero definitivamente es porque no han conocido de Santurcia. // They have the best bunk beds you’ll see in the shared rooms (among which there is one exclusive for women), but they also have a private room for those who prefer a little more privacy. Some of the shared rooms include a bathroom but there are also shared ones available. Definitely changing the game and redefining the concept of shared space. In Puerto Rico hostels are usually seen as something completely new for many and for others it is a kind of place that they avoid because they think that if it’s shared there is no privacy nor are they clean/organized places, but it is definitely because they have not been to Santurcia.
La cocina es perfecta para cocinar entre amigos, ya sean viejos o nuevos, y el comedor es amplio pero invita a sentarse y compartir una comida juntos. Tienen la alacena llena pero definitivamente puedes contribuir con más si así lo deseas, o si como yo eres veganx o simplemente debes de llevar una alimentación no tradicional por las razones que sean, lo importante es que hay espacio para ti en su cocina. // The kitchen is perfect for cooking between friends, whether old or new, and the dining room is large but it’s still inviting for you to sit and share a meal together. They have a stacked cupboard but you can definitely contribute more if you wish, or if you’re vegan as I am or you simply have to have non-traditional food for whatever reasons, the important thing is that there is space for you in their kitchen.

Su rooftop es el spot perfecto para tanto eventos, como jangueo y hasta sólo chilleo. Si entras a los Stories de Santucia verás que siempre hay un ambiente súper relax y en comunidad en el rooftop, y cuando no estas en ese mood, puedes disfrutar de la vista y brisa de Santurce como desees - en silencio, con un libro, con un poco de música o hasta catching up con Netflix. *wink wink* // Its rooftop is the perfect spot for events, as well as hanging out and even just chilling out. If you look at Santucia’s Stories you will see that there is always a super relaxing and community atmosphere on the rooftop, and when you’re not in that mood, you can enjoy the view and breeze of Santurce as you wish - in silence, with a book, with some music or even catching up with your Netflix. *wink wink*
En cuanto se trata de eventos, el rooftop es dónde es. A principios de diciembre tuve la oportunidad de asistir al open house de Santurcia, el cual formó parte de la Jornada de El Bloque en Santurce, con su Atardecer Navideño. Un evento maravilloso que reúne un mercado de artesanxs locales, con música y con la comunidad. Gracias a esto logré conocer varias marcas/artesanxs que presentaron proyectos llenos de propósito, como lo es Santurcia. // When it comes to events, the rooftop is where it’s at. At the beginning of December I had the opportunity to attend Santurcia’s open house, which was part of the El Bloque’s Jornada (“trip day”) in Santurce, with its “Atardecer Navideño” (Christmas Sunset). A wonderful event that brings together a market of local artisans, music and the community. Thanks to this I got to know several brands/artisans that presented projects full of purpose, as Santurcia does.
Santurcia no es sólo un hostal, es un lugar dónde puedes explorar Santurce y conocer personas de cualquier lugar del mundo. Pero lo mejor es el equipo de Santurcia. Siempre te reciben con mucho entusiasmo y calidez, te hacen sentir como en tu casa. El espacio está cuidadosamente curado pero a la vez es bien hogareño, haciéndolo no sólo hermoso pero acogedor. Honestamente, se ha convertido en mi lugar favorito en Santurce. // Santurcia is not just a hostel, it’s a place where you can explore Santurce and meet people from anywhere in the world. But the best thing is the Santurcia team. They always welcome you with a lot of enthusiasm and warmth, they make you feel at home. The space is carefully cured but at the same time it is very homely, making it not only beautiful but cozy. Honestly, it has become my favorite place in Santurce.
Un lugar perfecto para viajeros, extranjeros y personas que simplemente quieran participar de la comunidad que ayuda a promover Camila y su esposo, Ahmed, con Santurcia. // A perfect place for travelers, foreigners and people who simply want to participate in the community that Camila and her husband, Ahmed, help promote with Santurcia.
No se me puede olvidar las darles las buenas noticias, ¡Atardecer Navideño regresa este sábado 5 de enero (¡hoy!) para su edición de Reyes! Así que si quieres apoyar a emprendedorxs locales mientras disfrutas de música por artistas y DJ locales, comida y un buen ambiente de comunidad, esta es una gran oportunidad. // I can’t forget to give you the good news, Atardecer Navideño returns on Saturday January 5th (today!) for its Reyes edition (Three King Day)! So if you want to support local entrepreneurs while you enjoy music by local artists and DJ, food and a good community atmosphere, this is a great opportunity.
